The Equuarius EFAMP Training is a year-long certification program designed for healers, bodyworkers, therapists, equestrians, and facilitators who want to ethically and intuitively integrate horses into their professional healing work.     The Equuarius EFAM Practitioner Manual serves as a comprehensive guide for integrating horses into healing work with ethics, intuition, and practical application.   • The Retreat

    Each horse is a unique teacher, offering different insights, energy, and responses based on their temperament, history, and environment. The in-person retreat is where theory meets practice, allowing you to step into a fully immersive experience where you will work directly with horses in real-time. By interacting with a variety of horses—each with their own personality, sensitivities, and ways of communicating—you'll deepen your ability to observe/witness, read body language, build trust in yourself, and refine your intuition. Locations may vary, but each retreat space is intentionally chosen to create a grounded, safe, and natural setting for this work. Whether you’re with a highly sensitive horse, a confident leader, or one that requires patience and presence, each interaction will expand your understanding of equine partnership and healing facilitation. The retreat experience ensures that you don’t just learn these concepts—you embody them.

Meet your guides

  • Founder of Equuarius

    Horses have been my greatest teachers, shaping my understanding of movement, trust, and healing from an early age. My journey began with vaulting and intuitive horsemanship, later evolving into competitive riding, rehabilitation, and eventually, equine-facilitated healing. A pivotal moment with a horse named Z led me to study Bowen Therapy, animal communication, and consciousness-based medicine, deepening my ability to listen beyond words. Now, alongside my herd, I teach presence-based facilitation, ethical equine partnership, and the transformative power of horses as co-facilitators in healing.

  • From a young age I felt the awareness that there was something unique and powerful about horses.  They reached a part of my being I could not connect to with other humans and horses became my safe space of being seen and also bringing me into knowing who I deeply was.

    I followed my calling with horses into the breeding industry,  taking an equine science diploma at Olds College, I had a passion for race horses that called me into the racing field where I spent 2 years at various thoroughbred breeding farms around north america.

    It was in the breeding industry that I became more aware of the mistreatment of horses and also myself, and where the calling to have a space where horse and humans could be both held with honor was birthed.

    This desire lead me into the space equine facilitated learning, in 2006 I spent 3 years learning from a range of teachings in that field, before embarking on my own and opening up my first retreat space in 2012.

    We now run Epona Rise Retreat Center, a manifestation of a vision and calling we have built in connection with our herd of 28 horses.  Our space and purpose with the horses is creating a space where people can come and witness and know horses as teachers and experience the wisdom that they bring into our lives as humans.   We also founded Horse Medicine Leadership to support those that are called into partnership with horses,

    We run a range of retreats each year out of center as well as mentor other women in their space of purpose with horses as our guide.

( Possible two locations to work with Hillary's herd of 30 horses, and a secondary location to work with my partial herd. We may book AirBnB for final night. However, this is subject to change if it becomes too complicated. Vernon is a two hour drive from kamloops. Flights would come into Kamloops BC with a pickup to bring you to the the Retreat and a drop off)
